HARTFORD pt. 2

Welcome to Hartford!

A successful day was had by all, which for today included Patience, our ALD, as a member of the team for load-in.

As you may recall from last year, we were big fans of the green room area. Well, THIS year, they have new couches to boot. And the food spread that they put out for the crew during load-in is exceptional. I for one love places that provide us with coffee - it makes the tour manager a happier person!

This is all well and good... but I bet you're wondering whether our cans of peaches froze. No? You weren't? Okay, well, let's recall that after we loaded out of the Stiemke at our home base in the Rep, everything sat in the truck for a day and a half with negative temperatures and wind chills in the -30s. And while we unloaded the truck at the Schauer Arts & Activites Center, it was MAYBE 5 degrees out. So while nothing was permanently damaged or disfigured, there certainly were some VERY cold items. Tubs of warm water do the trick. And for my fingers, some better gloves will be a good buy.

We are only sorry that we didn't have more shows scheduled here this year. Oh, and the Mineshaft had an excellent fish fry for dinner. All went very smoothly (first load-out: 47 minutes total!) and good spirits added some warmth to our day.

It's possible that we're driving Katherine, our new addition this year, crazy with tales from last year. But as you can see in this lovely photo of her in Dressing Room #1, she's got the spirit!
